Work plans for FY2017

PRISM4 work focuses on areas of discord between SST proxy data and PlioMIP simulations identified in Dowsett et al. (2013): (a) mid-to- high latitude North Atlantic and (b) tropics as well as a concentrated effort on monsoon variability in the Bay of Bengal. We will use multiproxy and multidisciplinary approaches within a high-resolution temporal framework to recreate robust regional paleoenvironmental assessments.

During FY17 we will continue to analyze appropriate core sites and localities to generate data for verification of PlioMIP2 simulations from select deep sea core sites and coastal plain units. We will reconstruct salinity variability as a proxy for monsoon strength following our participation on Leg 353 of the IODP in the Bay of Bengal, Indian Ocean.
