Arctic Paleoceanography

Interglacial Climate Arctic Ocean Northwind Ridge

The project’s current focus is on Arctic Ocean climate during past warm interglacial periods in the Northwind Ridge region north of Point Barrow, Alaska. Figure 4 shows the location of sediment core sites from the Northwind Ridge region of the western Arctic Ocean. These sites contain a complete record of Arctic paleoceanography extending back more than 500,000 years, including warm interglacial periods Marine Isotope Stages 5 and 11.
