Elkmont Sandstone

Coarse-grained conglomeratic metasandstone of the Elkmont Sandstone with clasts of white quartz and feldspar in a matrix of sand grains.  Meter-long stick is parallel to graded-beds that are overturned on the limb of a fold.

Elkmont Sandstone is a gray to brown, medium- to coarse-grained conglomeratic sandstone that contains interbeds of gray to black siltstone.  The metasandstone beds are poorly sorted and sometimes graded with distinctive grains of white quartz and feldspar.
