The Mid-Continent Urban Corridor study emphasizes the Missouri uplands region around the head of the Mississippi Embayment. The primary issues
addressed are:
  • Neotectonics:
  • Seismic hazards
  • Industrial mineral/material resources

The strategy of this study is to use geologic mapping to address the issues and objectives listed above. The research approach includes:

  • Detailed geological mapping of critical 7.5-minute quadrangles
  • Paleontological support work
  • Drilling support work
  • Trench excavation
