In determining what size scanner to purchase, you must consider the maximum page size that you will need to scan in. The Ideal FSC 8010 scanner used in this course can scan a page up to a maximum scan width of 36 inches. As is the case with most scanners, the Ideal scanner will accept a page larger than it’s max scan width of 36 inches (up to 40 inches), but it can only scan an area up to 36 inches across. The scanning software used for this course is WIDEImage and the scanner is Ideal FSC 8010.

To calibrate our new scanner, we used the color and white calibration sheets included in the scanner purchase order. Refer to the scanner usual manual or scanner software help module for step-by-step guidance. Recalibration should be done every 6-12 months, depending on the amount of use.
