PLOTTER

Purchasing a Plotter

It is important to know what type of projects you will be printing and the level of quality desired.  There are many printers available, but many cannot support a GIS lab's detailed work.  We have chosen the HP DesignJet 1055CM Plotter specifically because it can print up to a height of 36 inches and an unlimited width distance through a custom set-up.  This plotter has very high resolution and is able to print detailed maps and images.

Set-up for the HP 1055CM

Turn on your plotter and select English (or your preferred language).  Insert the four different ink cartridges in their appropriate holder.  Replace the printer heads in place for shipping with the new print heads and insert their cleaners.  Next, install a roll of paper with the end of the roll coming towards you.  You can lift the handles above the roll and insert the end of the paper.  The screen will clearly state if any errors were made during this set-up and the plotter will automatically run through print tests.  (A manual will be provided with the plotter you purchase to help guide you.)
