EDGEMATCHING Edgematching uses rubber sheeting to align features along the edge of the current edit coverage to features along the edges of an adjoining snap coverage. This involves operating on more than one tile at a time to ensure that there is a correct match between the two tiles for entities that extend across the boundaries. To edgematch two different coverages, it is possible to either manually connect all of the lines between the coverages or use the Edgematch command in Arc. Although the manual work takes longer it is more accurate to use for a tiled image such as coverages with roads that are split between the two. Match up line ID's by extending or moving the lines together to complete this process. By using the edgematching command in Arc, which is beneficial for data from two different base maps, the work is done for you. There will be slight differences in these two maps since they were digitized at different times, but edgematching will omit most of the errors. |
